In almost two months of monsoon, 46 people have lost their lives in floods and landslides across the country. 29 people are missing and 58 people are injured. According to the data of Ministry of Home Affairs, Emergency Operation Center from 31st May to 28th July, 614 incidents of floods and landslides have been recorded and 5668 households have been affected. While 155 houses were completely damaged by the flood, 679 houses were partially damaged. Apart from physical structures including hydropower projects, bridges and roads, the flood has caused a loss of 98.3 million rupees. Taplejung, Panchthar and Sankhuwasabha were the most affected during this period.

Three people have died in all three districts due to the flash floods in the first week of June. Only 19 people have gone missing in Sankhuwasabha. Three people each have gone missing in Taplejung and Panchthar. In Sankhuwasabha, 53 households were affected and 12 houses were completely damaged. In Taplejung, 1,432 households were affected and 36 houses were completely damaged. In Panchthar, 266 houses were affected and 22 houses were completely damaged.

In terms of human losses, four people died in the landslide in Okhaldhunga, which was the most affected. Dhruv Bahadur Khadka, the spokesperson of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, said that the rescue and relief work of the flood victims is going on. Security personnel and volunteers are deployed for rescue. We have released one billion to distribute relief through the District Disaster Fund," he said. "For the time being, the temporary management work is being done at the local level. We release the budget for the construction of temporary housing.

36 people have died in landslides in two months. The flood killed 10 people. In four hundred and two cases of landslides, nine people have gone missing and 40 have been injured. One thousand eight hundred and forty-two households were affected, one hundred sixty houses were partially damaged and 64 houses were completely damaged. Landslide alone has caused a loss of 4 crores. During this period, there have been 212 incidents of flooding, 10 people have died and 20 people are missing. 18 people were injured. Out of 3,826 households affected, 515 houses were partially damaged and 85 houses were completely damaged. The flood caused a loss of 57.7 million rupees.

The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Water and Meteorology has also estimated rainfall in most areas of the country on Monday. Meteorologist Sajina Shakya informed that although it is estimated that there will be less rain than on Sunday since the monsoon system is active, the rain will continue. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Karnali and Far West (30-50 percent area) on Monday. A warning of heavy rain has been given at one or two places in the Far West. Few (less than 30 percent areas) of Lumbini and Gandaki and one or two areas of Madhes, Kosi and Bagmati are likely to experience severe (heavy) rain. However, the eastern parts of Bagmati and Kosi regions will receive less rainfall.

In the last 24 hours, there has been heavy rain in the eastern part of Kailali, Bardia, Banke, Surkhet, Dang and other areas. During this period, Bardia received 211 mm of rain. Lamjung, Dolakha, Gorkha, Makwanpur, Bara have also received a lot of rain. It has been raining continuously since Monday morning in Kathmandu and other areas. The highest rainfall in Kathmandu is 63.2 mm in the Dhap Dam area.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to continuous rains in Nepal, the Monsoon low-pressure line is north of Sardar (Bihar-Uttar Pradesh region of India) and water vapor is coming from the Bay of Bengal. However, there are signs of some improvement in the weather from Tuesday. According to meteorologist Shakya, in the current situation (if there is no further development in the system), there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some places of all seven provinces on Tuesday. On Tuesday night, some places of Kosi, Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki and few places in the rest of the province will see rain, but the chance of rain is low as of now.
