Kathmandu: An Indian soldier has been killed in firing by Pakistani forces in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army has reported that Dinesh Kumar Sharma lost his life in the incident that occurred early this morning. Meanwhile, India's "Operation Sindoor" airstrikes against Pakistan have reportedly resulted in 31 deaths. Pakistani artillery fire has also claimed 15 lives in Kashmir.
On April 22, an attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam killed 26 tourists, including one Nepali citizen. India has stated that its recent attacks were in retaliation for this incident.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to help reduce tensions between India and Pakistan.
According to the BBC, a spokesperson for the US State Department also confirmed that talks are ongoing with both sides to resolve this crisis situation in South Asia.
Similarly, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has appealed to India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomatic dialogue. Ukraine has emphasized the need to avoid steps that could worsen the security situation in South Asia.
The United Kingdom has also indicated its readiness to assist both countries in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan.
