10 killed in a chartered plane crash in Malaysia
A private jet flying from Langkawi International Airport in Kuala Lumpur to Selangor crashed on the road near Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport on Thursday afternoon.
The plane carrying 6 passengers and 2 crew members collided with cars and motorbikes moving on the road after the accident. According to CNN, 10 people including 8 people on the plane and 2 people on a motorcycle and a car died in the accident.
Before the accident, the plane contacted the Subong Air Traffic Control Tower at 2:47 pm local time. Citing the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, CNN noted that the plane did not land on time despite being told to land at 2:48 by ATC.
At 2:51 a.m. the plane was found in a crashed state. The authority said that there was no information about the danger situation from the crew of the plane. Those who died in the plane crash have been taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for identification and post-mortem.
The investigation into the accident will be led by Malaysia's Ministry of Transport. Transport Minister Anthony Locke has informed that the investigation is ongoing.
