The construction of Mazhagaon Airport located in Bhimdatta Municipality-16 of Kanchanpur has not been able to gain momentum. Only 25 percent of the airport, which has a contract agreement to be built in three years, has been completed so far.

It is said that the construction of the airport has not been able to accelerate due to land tenure disputes and a lack of construction materials. In the year 2078, a contract was signed with Kancharam-KS-Uma & Company for Rs 45 crore 66 lakh to complete the work within three years.

According to Ankit Sharma, engineer of the Majhagaon airport project, the work of the airport has stopped due to the rains. He said that the work was stopped due to the problem of transportation of construction materials during drought. "Soil and gravel work was going on, due to the rain there is a problem in the transportation of soil and gravel", he said, "so now the work has stopped, the work will start again after the rain stops."

According to the project, 900 meters of runway of the airport have been constructed so far. Similarly, the construction of 900 meters of drains has also been completed. The airport is being rebuilt with the joint investment of the local level, the state government, and the federal government.
 
15% of Bhimdatta Municipality, 10% of Dodhara Chandni, 25% of the Sudurpaschim Province Government, and 50% of the Federal Government have invested in the reconstruction of the airport.

There was a dispute over Ratnawatika, which is connected to the Shuklaphanta National Park, and the land occupied by the Nepali Army, which is deployed to protect the park. During the construction of the runway in that area, the construction company's equipment and workers' park were also taken under control. After the verbal consent to allow the work to be carried out and the process for the right of occupancy will be advanced, the construction of the runway is underway in that area.

A 1,525-meter-long runway will be constructed at Mazhagaon Airport. Air service started at Majhgaon Airport in 2030. During the armed conflict, the airport was closed in 2056 citing security reasons. Since then, the airport has not been operational. As the airport is not operational in Kanchanpur, locals go to Dhangadhi for air services.
