"Halkara" has been recommended for the 96th edition of the Oscar Awards to be held in America next year.
The International Feature Film Selection Committee (Nepal) has recommended the film 'Halkara' directed by Vikram Sapkota for the Oscar award. The committee chaired by Raju KC has recommended this film out of the 5 films received, it was informed through a statement.
The International Feature Film Selection Committee of Nepal asked the filmmakers who are interested in joining the competition to submit their films by October 29. According to the invitation of the committee, 'Dakini', 'Halkara', 'Neerphool', 'Bulaki', and Bagan applied.
According to the statement, it has been decided to include "Halkara" as a competitor of Nepal after paying attention to the technical aspect, presentation of the story, artistic quality, emotional analysis of the characters and the artistic quality of the presentation among the films received for the competition.
'Halkara' has Mahesh Tripathi and Vinita Thapa Magar in lead roles.
Tripathi also won the best actor award from the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival, while Chintan Rajbhandari won the best cinematographer award.
