Palpa, October 23: Six members of the same family died in a jeep accident in Palpa district on Sunday. The accident occurred on the Butwal-Palpa road while the jeep was returning from Rani Mahal, a popular tourist destination in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Bahadur Lohani (65), Parvati Lohani (65), Isav Lohani (11), Sabis Lohani (9), Sabina Dhital (30), and Chunu Dhital (55). All the deceased were residents of Devchuli Municipality, East Nawalparasi.
The jeep driver, Ishwar Bahadur Lohani, who is also a member of the same family, was seriously injured in the accident. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Palpa.
According to the police, the accident occurred when the jeep lost control and fell into a ditch. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The death of six members of the same family has plunged the village of Razhar in East Nawalparasi into grief. The local administration is providing assistance to the bereaved family.
