Dhangadhi, Nepal – The Department of Archeology has begun the process of nominating Behdaba Temple for inclusion on the World Heritage List. It is a revered religious site in Ward No. 16 of Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city, Kailali. This initiative aims to enhance the temple's organization and preserve its religious significance, fostering its transformation into a prominent national and international tourist destination.

On Saturday, a team led by Engineer Keshab Sharma of the Department of Archeology conducted an initial assessment of the temple. The team, accompanied by outgoing Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city mayor Nrip Bahadur Wad, temple committee president Padmaraj Joshi, and local residents, meticulously examined the site.

Temple committee president Padmaraj Joshi emphasized the importance of maintaining the temple's spiritual heritage and preserving its sacred puja grounds while implementing necessary organizational improvements.

Current Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city mayor Nrip Bahadur Wad reaffirmed his commitment to developing Behedababa, aligning with the broader objective of establishing Dhangadhi as a religious tourism hub. Mayor Wad acknowledged his continuous support for Behedababa, even after his mayoral term.

"We will safeguard this sacred heritage of the Far Western Province and Indian religious devotees," declared Mayor Wad. "Our goal is to transform Behedababa into a captivating attraction for national and international tourists."

Engineer Keshab Sharma's team from the Department of Archeology meticulously analyzed the temple's stomet and ancient structure, vowing to conduct a comprehensive study and provide ongoing monitoring as needed. The preliminary study marks the initial step in Behdababa Temple's potential journey toward World Heritage recognition.
