South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was stabbed while talking to reporters. According to the Korean News Agency, the attacker was arrested at the scene in Busan.
Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was on a visit to the southern port city of Busan when the attack took place, Yonhap news agency reported.
Lee was stabbed in the left side of the neck by an unknown person.
He approached Lee asking for his autograph. After that, he suddenly went forward and attacked him, according to the international media.
He has now been taken to the hospital. Officials of his party, the Democratic Party, said that he is in custody.
The 59-year-old Lee lost last year's presidential election to Yoon Suk Yeol of the Conservative Party.
President Yun condemned the attack and wished for his recovery.
