  • Medical Students Celebrate Bhanu Jayanti with Poetry Competition

    Kathmandu: On 29 Asar 2081 (July 13, 2024), Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital in Duwakot, Bhaktapur, hosted a vibrant poetry competition to commemorate Bhanu Jayanti. The event, titled "भानु काव्यसंग्राम" (Bhanu Poetry Battle), was organized by the Rotaract Club of Kathmandu Medical College as part of their "काव्यमञ्जरी" (Poetry Bouquet) project.

    Eight participants from MBBS and BDS programs showcased their poetic talents, offering verses inspired by the legacy of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, the revered Nepali poet and translator. The competition was judged by Rtr. Purnima Giri and Pawan Dhungana.

    Rtr. Apeksha Sapkota emerged as the winner, with Tek Bahadur Khadka and Rtr. Jenisha Maharjan securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.

    The event was attended by notable guests, including Rtr. Ashish Shrestha, Zonal Secretary for Zone VI, and Dr. Iju Shrestha, Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy at KMCTH. Rtr. Sushan Dhital, the immediate past district secretary and current district Rotaract member, served as the Chief Guest.

    AK Publications and Jaypee sponsored the event, contributing to its success. This annual competition not only honors the literary contributions of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya but also showcases the diverse talents of medical students, fostering creativity and cultural appreciation within the academic community.

    The event took place at the Basic Sciences Block of Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital, providing a fitting academic backdrop for this celebration of literature and medicine.
