Kathmandu: In a historic moment for Indian music, Arijit Singh has clinched the coveted title of the most followed music artist on Spotify, surpassing global sensation Taylor Swift. The intense rivalry between the two musical powerhouses has captivated fans worldwide.
With a staggering 117.2 million followers, Arijit Singh has garnered a lead of 21,000 over Swift, who now holds the second position with 117.18 million followers. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Indian music industry and underscores Arijit Singh's immense popularity.
While Arijit Singh has claimed the top spot in terms of followers, Taylor Swift still maintains a substantial lead in monthly listeners, highlighting the enduring appeal of her music. British singer Ed Sheeran follows closely behind with 115.01 million followers, securing the third position. Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish complete the top five with 98 million and 96 million followers, respectively.
This is not the first time Arijit Singh has surpassed Swift on Spotify. In August 2023, he briefly held the top spot before Swift reclaimed her position. However, Arijit Singh's recent achievement of becoming the first Indian artist to cross 100 million followers on the platform is a testament to his growing global fanbase.
Another Indian music maestro, A.R. Rahman, continues to make waves with a substantial following of 49 million on Spotify, placing him among the top 20 most followed artists worldwide.
As Arijit Singh enjoys the sweet taste of success with chart-topping songs like "Sajini" from "Lapata Ladies," "Satyanas" from "Chandu Champion," and "Tu Hai Champion" and "Thainu Khabar Nahi" from "Munjya," Taylor Swift is also making headlines with her latest album, "The Touched Poets Department."
This ongoing battle for the top spot promises to keep fans engaged as both artists continue to captivate audiences with their music.
