Bengaluru, September 22: A horrific crime has come to light in the heart of Bengaluru, where the dismembered body of a 29-year-old woman, Mahalakshmi, was discovered inside a refrigerator in her single-bedroom apartment in Malleswaram. The shocking find has sent ripples of fear and shock through the city.

Mahalakshmi, who worked at a local mall, reportedly lived alone in the flat while her husband was employed at an ashram outside the city. Authorities believe she was murdered nearly a week ago, with her body cut into 30 pieces and concealed in the fridge. Police suspect foul play and are currently investigating the motive behind this gruesome act.

The discovery was made in the Vyalikaval police station area, where officers responding to a tip-off found the fridge still running, filled with body parts and maggots. Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Zone), N. Satish Kumar, stated that forensic experts have been called to assist in the investigation. The body parts were discovered in a 165-litre, single-door refrigerator, which was sealed off by the authorities for further analysis.

Mahalakshmi originally hailed from another state but had been residing in Karnataka. Her husband, who was away then, rushed back to the city upon hearing of the incident. Investigators are now working to piece together the events leading to her death.

This brutal crime has drawn eerie comparisons to the infamous murder case of Shraddha Walker, who was killed and dismembered by her live-in partner, Aftab Poonawala, in Delhi's Mehrauli area in May 2022. In both cases, the bodies were dismembered and stored in refrigerators, triggering widespread outrage and shock.

The investigation is ongoing, with forensic teams meticulously examining the crime scene for clues. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could help solve this heinous case.
