Kanpur, India : Chaos erupted at the Green Park Stadium during the second Test between India and Bangladesh on Friday when spectators violently attacked a Bangladesh cricket fan. The incident, which occurred during the match, has sparked widespread outrage and concern.

The victim, identified as 'Tiger Roby,' was rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining injuries to his back and lower abdomen. According to Roby, he was brutally assaulted by the crowd, leaving him in severe pain and unable to breathe.

Security personnel intervened to prevent further violence and escorted the injured fan to the hospital for medical attention. A video of the incident captured by news agency PTI shows Roby in immense distress, struggling to communicate the details of the attack.

While local police at the venue have denied claims of an assault, suggesting that the fan's condition might be due to dehydration, Roby insists that he was targeted by a hostile crowd who had been hurling abuses at him throughout the day.

This is not the first time tensions between Indian and Bangladesh cricket fans have escalated into violence. In a similar incident during the 2023 ODI World Cup, another Bangladesh supporter was harassed and attacked.

The Kanpur Test was already under heightened security due to threats from the Hindu Mahasabha, who had planned protests against the match in response to alleged "atrocities" on Hindus in Bangladesh.

The incident has raised serious questions about the safety of fans attending cricket matches in India and the need for stricter measures to prevent such violence from occurring in the future.
