Jhapa : Heavy rainfall in Jhapa district has triggered widespread flooding, displacing over 250 households. The District Police Office reported that the affected residents have been relocated to safer areas, including neighboring settlements and public buildings.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Bahadur Chand, most displaced families are from Jhapa Rural Municipality-6 Bhandra Basti, where 50 houses were inundated. Other severely impacted areas include Bhadrapur-3, Bahradashi Rural Municipality-2, Sivasatakshi Municipality-10, and Birtamod.
The police said that the floodwaters have damaged homes, infrastructure, and agricultural land, causing significant disruption to daily life. Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing, with authorities working to provide essential supplies and shelter to the affected population.
As the situation continues to evolve, residents are urged to remain vigilant and follow the advice of local authorities.
