More than 1000 people have died in terrorist attacks and military operations in the African country of Mali. 49 people were killed in an attack on a ferry on the Timbuk River by Islamic terrorist groups and 15 in an attack on a military barracks.
According to the Mali government, 50 terrorists were killed in the operation by the soldiers. According to the BBC, the Malian government has declared national mourning for three days after these simultaneous incidents.
Meanwhile, in north-eastern Syria, several fighters have been killed in a clash between the Arab tribal militia and members of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces SDF.
Violence broke out in Deir ez-Zor province after the Syrian Democratic Forces arrested a militia commander known as Abu Awla, known as Abu Awla, on corruption charges. Al Jazeera reports that the violence has not stopped and many people are dying.
