UML President KP Sharma Oli proposed, United Samajwadi Party President Madhav Nepal was not ready to become the presidential candidate.
Prime Minister Prachanda had promised Nepal during his presidency. However, at the last moment, Prachanda proposed to give the president to Congress. Meanwhile, there was an agreement between Prachanda, Nepal, and Upendra Yadav to make Nepal a common presidential candidate and to talk with Congress and UML about that.
However, after the Congress maintained the position of the President, Prime Minister Prachanda asked Nepal to drop the claim of the President saying that he would lead the government for one year and participate in power sharing.
On the other hand, the leaders close to him say that even Nepal could not agree to Oli's proposal after the UML, RASWP, and RPPA votes alone did not win. Even in 2065, there was talk of making Nepal the president. At that time, Prachanda had promised Nepal that he would make him the president. But this time, a 'gentleman's agreement' has been reached in the ruling coalition to make President Nepal the prime minister for one year. Leaders also say that it has been decided to go to a unified socialist government with important ministries.
